According
to a recent study, scientists have asserted that the fetus of smoking
mothers is negatively affected and such impact lasts until the child
grows up and inclines to accept this bad habit, smoking, and tends to
smoke later. It’s well known, medically speaking, that the smoking of
expectant mothers has a negative impact on the fetus and causes a number
of damages. Even when mothers smoke while being close to their
children, their children are impacted by the smoke and become smokers
when they grow up; of course this doesn’t apply to all children, but to
the overwhelming majority.
According to another study that was conducted at the University of
Bristol, it's been found that smoking and alcohol are worse than illegal
drugs. Prophet Mohammad, PBUH, was therefore merciful to us when he
taught us that we shouldn’t harm ourselves for he said: “there should be
neither harming nor reciprocating harm.” Allah, the exalted also wants
to do us good when he says in the holy Qur’an:
"And
spend of your substance in the cause of Allah, and make not your own
hands contribute to (your) destruction; but do good; for Allah loveth
those who do good.” Baqara or the Heifer: 2: 195
